 Our Creation Story

In the beginning of my life, there were many challenges.  I was fatherless, I saw many family members sickly with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and the list goes on.  I have also been a victim of bullying and molestation. Overcoming these obstacles, however, taught me a lot.  It gave me the tenacity to tackle anything in my way, and in hindsight, I learned a lot about myself and about Abba Father.  Through this, I grew very fond of mentoring young ladies into adulthood.  I wanted to help them mature, not making the same mistakes I made, nor experiencing the same roadblocks.  This led me to formulate the non-profit Chosen & Refined.  We taught young ladies the importance of making wise choices in their lives.  The main goal was to break generational curses that are so prevalent within our communities. We did this by teaching them the importance of abstinence, education, and overall healthy choices for their wellbeing and productive life.

This care and concern I had for the young ladies was an extension of my desire for family and friends to make wise choices.  So, it seems that I became somewhat of a “go-to” person for health and wellness.  My adoration for natural means of healing the body and for herbs, in general, was instilled in me at a very early age. I can remember my grandmother making tea and bringing it to me when I was under the weather.  I was always surrounded by natural remedies, teas, plants, and things of that nature.  As I matured into adulthood, I began to research various herbal remedies, including essential oils.

I discovered that each herb carries a specific trait that is beneficial for our body in some way.  It was about 15 years ago when I first started this research.  My graduate degree final project was a business plan written for a teashop.  I love herbs, and I also love seeing the results it brings within our lives.

During this 15+ years of research and planning, I learned that I had an ancestor who was a doctor of sorts within the slave quarters in which she lived.  I was so honored to have received the same passion.  During the first COVID-19 wave, I had the courage to launch and purchase my first round of stock.  I was so excited.  My very first tea was named “Lailah Tob”.  In Hebrew, “lailah tob” means “good night”. I made it for my little sister to be able to sleep through the night.  My next tea was “Purge Me with Hyssop”.  Both blends have had great success.

So, from that point on, Bere’shiyth 1:29 was born!

And Aluah said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for meat.”

I birthed Bere’shiyth 1:29 to be an herbal tea company specializing in natural remedies.  These teas respond to specific needs and medicinal inquiries, but we also have recreational teas that are healthier without the mainstream additives. Each tea is crafted to answer identified needs within our communities.  I desire to see our families bearing the seed of health and vitality.

While it is the intent of Bere’shiyth 1:29 to provide herbal options to increase overall health and vitality, our herbal blends are not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, and/or treatment. If you have severe medical pain or illness, consult with a medical professional before consuming. Nursing and pregnant women should also consult with their medical professional before consuming any herbal blends.
